Are you aware of Ask for Angela? |

Good Morning Resident,
As we come into the height of the summer months and the beer gardens start to fill up. I would like to share some safety information with regards to the ASK FOR ANGELA scheme.
What is ASK FOR ANGELA ?
Ask for Angela is a national scheme that is supported by venues around the Whitby ward. Ask for Angela is a discreet way to ask for support if you need it for any reason. By asking for “Angela”, you can let staff know quickly, quietly and without fuss that you need help. If you ask for Angela, trained staff will respond calmly and appropriately, taking your lead. The scheme provides a discreet way for anyone who feels unsafe, vulnerable or uncomfortable to ask for help.
If you ever feel at risk while visiting a pub, bar, club or other venue, simply approach a member of staff and ASK FOR ANGELA. Staff are trained to recognise this as a request for help and will support you discreetly. Depending on your situation, they may help contact a friend or family member, arrange a safe journey home, provide a safe space, or contact security or the Police if necessary.
The ASK FOR ANGELA scheme is available to anyone who needs it, regardless of age or gender and is designed to help people leave uncomfortable or unsafe situations safely and without drawing attention.
If you are ever in immediate danger, always call 999.
Together, we can help our communities and make our night time venues safer for everyone. More information is available for further viewing at Ask for Angela - Official UK Site
Please feel free to share with anyone that you feel may benefit from this information. Many thanks again for your time.
